How to Maintain Lace Front Wigs

May 15th, 2011

Lace front wigs are an excellent option for women who seek varied hair lengths, colors and styles without the dangers of damaging their real hair. The versatility and relative convenience of lace front wigs make them a sound investment; however, proper maintenance of the pieces are paramount to extending their structural and aesthetic longevity. Maintaining lace front wigs takes a bit of diligence, but is well worth the investment of your time.

1.Store the lace front wig on the foam mannequin head while you are not wearing it. Doing so will not only help the wig maintain its shape, but significantly lessen the chance of the wig knotting and tangling if kept elsewhere.

2.Store the lace front wig on the foam mannequin head while you are not wearing it. Doing so will not only help the wig maintain its shape, but significantly lessen the chance of the wig knotting and tangling if kept elsewhere.

3.Spray a non-oil based adhesive glue remover around the perimeter of your hairline before attempting to remove the lace front wig. Allow the lace to naturally raise from your skin instead of forcing removal, as this may cause significant hair breakage around and premature decomposition of the lace itself.

4.Shampoo and condition the lace front wig no more than once every two weeks, if possible. This can be done while wearing the wig or setting it on a mannequin head, although the use of cool water to thoroughly rinse the hair should be kept consistent.

5.Allow the lace front wig to air dry after washing. Like real hair, wigs maintain a healthier appearance when not overly exposed to heat styling.

Diva Wears Dolce&Gabbana

May 13th, 2011

No.622 in a limited series – Without animalier prints, there could be no divas or divinities.

I would love to say: meet Diva, and share some background information with you… Yet I can’t. She’s not your ordinary ‘look of the day’ model with beautiful clothes and a pretty face: she’s a Diva. You invite her to a breakfast, she doesn’t even answer because she’s busy running the threadmill at the gym by the time you wake up. You’d like to hang out with her and dance the night away yet she doesn’t do parties: going out is cliche’, staying in is in.

You want to go shopping with her yet she doesn’t shop, she has her crew that shops for her… Then again, all Diva wears is Dolce&Gabbana branded: she needs the elegance, sexiness, the class that these clothes bring to her.

These high waisted leopard print shorts are her new uniform, she just can’t get them off: they make her legs look longer, her waist slimmer and her attitude more bossy.

Higher the heel, closer to heaven: that’s her motto, she wears heels even to bed. She has open toe sandals for the day and black pumps for the night. Shades are crucial as a Diva never looks at you in the eye. It’s all about the mystery.

Who’s a Diva’s best friend forever? A Miss Sicily, of course.

Guide to Formal Silver Ties

May 13th, 2011

Most men consider black and white the most popular necktie color. For a reason we speak of a black tie attire and white tie dress code. While black and white are the most formal bow tie colors, neck ties can add formality in several other color shades. One of the overlooked formal necktie colors is silver. Below is a guide on how to wear, and how to match the silver necktie. In addition we feature three popular silver ties and give you ideas on how to dress each tie up or down.

The Solid Silver Tie
Without doubt, the solid color tie made from a smooth and shiny silk is the most formal design and pattern (or non-pattern). This solid silver silk tie will be a perfect choice for a classic formal or semi-formal dress code. It will be a perfect accessory for a “black tie optional” dress code in combination with white dress shirt, black or charcoal suit, and a matching silver handkerchief. We also suggest that this tie is knotted with a slightly asymmetric Four in Hand knot.

Add More Texture
If solid color ties are too plain for you then we suggest you have a look at this light silver tie with fine cross-pattern. The pattern is woven into the fabric and adds a nice texture to the fabric. Besides having a different texture the weave adds a unique sheen to the tie. It appears to be solid in plain in color but a closer look actually shows the intricate fabric weave. This tie suits formal as well as semi-formal dress codes.

Formal Silver Tie with Stripes
Who says that striped ties are meant for business? This solid color striped tie is one of our most formal striped neckties. It is made from a single color yarn and the striped pattern is created by switching the yarn’s weaving direction. If you are looking to add some pattern to your formal or semi-formal attire then this silver tie is for you. For more information as well as a bigger picture, please click on the image on the left.

Sport Coat and Blazer Jacket Guide

May 7th, 2011

Blazers don’t have a very good public rep. They’re often seen as stuffy, boring pieces that should only be worn when going to formal events and hosting game shows. Men’s fashion today, however, offers you quite a few options in the blazer department, with quite a few that are more than appropriate for non-formal situations. Even when you don’t plan to wear a necktie, there are still ways to score style points with a blazer.

The Casual Blazer
It sounds like an oxymoron, the casual blazer, but it’s a combination that’s easy to do in real life and is quite a versatile and memorable outfit. Aside from the blazer itself, the rest of the ingredients should be easy to find, right in your own closet.

The simplest and quickest combination is add a blazer over a solid (preferably light) tee and dark jeans. The resulting look is sophisticated without being stuffy, yet casual that doesn’t look sloppy. If you want to dress up your outfit just a teeny bit more, wear a polo shirt instead of the tee. It’s a little preppier and dressier, but maintains that laid back and relaxed vibe of the ‘casual’ blazer.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to buy a new blazer just to pull off this look. Although it’s a good idea to get your wardrobe a sport coat specifically for the purpose, this kind of outfit is just as doable with the blazer from your gray or navy office suit.

The Quirky Blazer
It’s true that blazers are formal pieces that carry a lot of fashion tradition with them. It’s not true that blazers have to be boring and completely devoid of personality.

For spring, the quirky blazer is the one that you wear with a slim shirt, no necktie and a pair of slim tailored shorts. Yes, you read that right: shorts. As long as the shorts are of the dressy variety (the fabric feels like the stuff in your office slacks), it’s a casual take on a formal combination of fabrics. Skipping the necktie is standard to maintain the casual feel, but you can throw in a patterned bow tie for extra quirky style points.

Remember that this kind of outfit is playing on the standards of formal fashion, so the rest of your ensemble should be consistent with that. Little details like leather shoes (a pair of loafers or drivers work great) and a nice watch help achieve the desired effect.

The Double Breasted Blazer
Although they’ve been quite the trend for a while, DBs are still as hot a style item today as they were when they first rolled out on the runways. No, they’re not limited to just the high fashion crowd. Yes, there are many ways to wear the DB blazer.

The stereotypical way of wearing the double breasted blazer is also the most formal. It involves fully buttoning up, a crisp shirt and a well-done necktie. Nowadays, though, it’s just as sharp to wear your DB with less dressy items like a tee or cardigan. You can leave it open and even go the whole nine casual yards by pushing up the sleeves.

Blazers add a touch of dressiness and tradition to your outfit, but they’re a far cry from the one-trick style ponies that many think they are. Once you broaden your fashion horizons a bit, you’ll see that there’s much more to the blazer than meets the eye.
