Naomi Campbell to design jeans for Fiorucci

June 22nd, 2011

I once had a childhood (ok, tween) love affair for the Italian fashion brand Fiorucci before they left Australia in the late 1990s. Now the fashion brand is attempting to get back into the fashion limelight by signing up British supermodel Naomi Campbell to create her own line of jeans.

The first Naomi Campbell for Fiorucci denim collection is expected to the Spring/Summer 2012 season with the collection presented during Milan Mens Fashion Week, which kicks off on Saturday. Fiorucci havent shown at a fashion week in years and they don’t seem to be on schedule, so were predicting that there will be an press launch of some sort during the week. Theres no word on the price point or whether the jeans will be available worldwide.

Fioruccis heyday was back in the 1970s the early 1990s with the Fiorucci license now owned by Ittierre which gives us some hope that the brand will see some return to former glory. Ittierre also holds licences for Balmain, C’N’C’ Costume National, Galliano and Ermanno by Ermanno Scervino, two of which are showing during Men’s Fashion Week.

Campbell isnt the first model to design a denim line, with Georgia May Jagger designing her own range for Hudson Jeans. But were interested in seeing what the supermodel has by way of design talents.

Reprints at Threadless this week (23/06/2011)

June 22nd, 2011

Most of the reprints are pretty top notch this week, not sure which to blog! Some summery tees too which is refreshing to see, with the weather being so changeable we dont really know what season it is.

With that in mind, confirm the fact it is meant to be almost July with this seasonal tee, The Beach by Lim Heng Swee. I love this almost Lowry-esque beach scene.

If its something a little bit more raw and sinister youre after Zombie Fruit by Ben Chen is pretty nifty. The motif contrasts with the khaki/olive really well. Anything with a zombie link is a hit for me, I am particularly enjoying the banana.

The next tee is so delicious I NEED it, this one and the Doctor who one from my last blog are going to be mine. Mister Mittens Big Adventure by Joe Van Wetering it every shade of awesome. Such a fantastically unique design. Cat with laser vision, whats not to love. I probably wouldnt put this on my daughter, shed probably be terrified of the crazy kitty.

Speaking as a chica, I am digging Hairspray by Jasmiini Ottelin. Its feminine without being over the top girly. Not so sure about the guys tank, dont think I could take a bloke seriously in it!

The simplicity and colour of Music Business Remastered by Dale Edwin Murray works well, not a massive fan of the blokey tank again but I enjoy the Royal Blue. Shame they dont do more tanks for girlys.

Model In Disguise

June 22nd, 2011

No.634 in a limited series – He’s a model in disguise. The name? Well, we know it but we won’t tell.

It’s almost fashion week in Milan. Girls are begging to meet male models, they get in queues in front of our offices thinking that we do the castings here (we could only wish) and they scream their admirations for them loud and clear.

What is a male model to do in these moments of craze? Go incognito!

Get yourself a cap, a pair of sunglasses, a big bag, a few layers of clothing et voila!

How much does it cost to look this ‘anonymous’ ? Linen jacket for 795 Euro, vest for 245 Euro and shirt for 215 Euro. Oh, you can also get cotton pants for 395 Euro and flip flops for 335 Euro!

How to Maintain Lace Front Wigs

June 22nd, 2011

Lace front wigs are an excellent option for women who seek varied hair lengths, colors and styles without the dangers of damaging their real hair. The versatility and relative convenience of lace front wigs make them a sound investment; however, proper maintenance of the pieces are paramount to extending their structural and aesthetic longevity. Maintaining lace front wigs takes a bit of diligence, but is well worth the investment of your time.

1.Store the lace front wig on the foam mannequin head while you are not wearing it. Doing so will not only help the wig maintain its shape, but significantly lessen the chance of the wig knotting and tangling if kept elsewhere.

2.Store the lace front wig on the foam mannequin head while you are not wearing it. Doing so will not only help the wig maintain its shape, but significantly lessen the chance of the wig knotting and tangling if kept elsewhere.

3.Spray a non-oil based adhesive glue remover around the perimeter of your hairline before attempting to remove the lace front wig. Allow the lace to naturally raise from your skin instead of forcing removal, as this may cause significant hair breakage around and premature decomposition of the lace itself.

4.Shampoo and condition the lace front wig no more than once every two weeks, if possible. This can be done while wearing the wig or setting it on a mannequin head, although the use of cool water to thoroughly rinse the hair should be kept consistent.

5.Allow the lace front wig to air dry after washing. Like real hair, wigs maintain a healthier appearance when not overly exposed to heat styling.
